In order for hospitals to have a strong financial performance, they need integrated clinical and finance teams. This session will focus on successes in creating these teams and the positive impact they’ve had on financial performance.

  • Registration and Breakfast 8:30 am – 9:00 am

Clinicians Belong in the Finance Team - 9:00am - 10:15 am

Understand the revenue cycle and how important clinicians are in the financial performance of the hospital. Learn how to bridge the knowledge gap and hear strategies for integrating utilization review into finance.

Objective:

Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of the revenue cycle and the impact of clinical data on hospital reimbursement.

Physicians: Beyond Medicine and Into Finance - 10:30 am – 11:45 am

Physicians drive care for the hospital and their documentation is the basis for receiving accurate reimbursement for services. This session will describe how to engage your physicians in the revenue cycle.

Objective:

Participants will learn strategies for working with physicians to improve documentation.

Finance and Clinical Teams – Perfect Together - 12:45 pm – 2:00 pm

Clinicians really do impact hospital financial performance. Hear from a hospital executive who was an early adopter of bringing clinical and financial teams together and the improvements recognized.

Objective:

Participants will learn how to integrate clinical and finance teams together to maximize the hospital’s quality and financial performance.

Building Bridges Between Clinical and Finance Teams

An open discussion with our speakers on how to break barriers and build best practices between clinical and finance teams.

Participants will understand the different approaches to working with clinical and financial staff.

Learner Outcome:

After successfully completing the education program, the learner will gain an in-depth understanding of hospital revenue cycle and how clinicians and finance can mutually benefit by working together. The learner will be able to list two best practice strategies/approaches that support finance and clinical teams in working together successfully, to maximize the hospital’s quality and financial performance, transferrable to their organization. 

Successful completion of the education program is defined as in-person attendance for 95 percent of the didactic learning session and a complete course evaluation.
